Pole Positions: Hamilton vs Schumacher
Formula 1’s all-time pole position table has a new leader after Lewis Hamilton beat Michael Schumacher’s 11-year-old record at the Italian Grand Prix. Hamilton drew level with Schumacher after delivering a qualifying masterclass at Spa then a week later the Mercedes driver produced another mega-lap to claim pole position at Monza, and with it surpass the German legend. Schumacher remains F1's most successful driver in terms of world championships (7), race victories (91) and fastest laps (77). Hamilton has more pole positions in F1 history with 69 so far.
