Bottas hopes alternate strategy pays off
– Valtteri Bottas is optimistic that his alternative strategy pays off at the Japanese Grand Prix, with the Mercedes driver poised to start the race on the Soft tyres.Bottas qualified in second position but a five-place penalty for an unscheduled gearbox change means he will drop to seventh on the grid.Bottas completed Q2 on the Soft compound, meaning he will complete the opening stint on the yellow-banded tyre, as opposed to the Super Soft, assuming dry conditions prevail.With his nearest rivals set to start on the red-banded softer rubber, Bottas is hopeful that his opposing approach will enable him to move up the order."I'm going to start on the Soft tyre, so I think we have...
