Plastic bag in rear brakes spoiled Sergey Sirotkin's F1 debut
A plastic bag lodged inside Sergey Sirotkin's rear brakes spoiled his Formula 1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix. The Russian's first F1 race was cut short just after four laps after brake failure caused by a plastic bag managed to make its way inside the rear brake drum, causing irreparable damage to the FW41's brake system forcing Siroktin down an escape road at Turn 13. Williams chief technical officer Paddy Lowe said: 'Our provisional analysis is that a plastic bag has been collected on the circuit, completely blocking the brake cooling, so that the right rear corner caught fire and eventually failed the hydraulics circuit.
