Starting Grid: Bahrain Grand Prix
Championship leader Sebastian Vettel took pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday, ahead of his teammate Kimi Raikkonen – both Ferrari will start from front-row of the grid. The Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas was third quickest in final qualifying while defending world champion Lewis Hamilton's fourth position was relegated to ninth after being hit with a grid penalty for gearbox change. McLaren speedy Fernando Alonso qualified his MCL32 in 13th place, his team-mate Stoffel Vandoorne was one place back in 14th. Honda-powered Toro Rosso's Pierre Gasly will start the race from an impressive fifth on Sunday, and his teammate Brendon Hartley made 11th place for starting grid.
