Max Verstappen takes on new MGU-K from back row start

Red Bull has fitted a new MGU-K to Max Verstappen’s RB14 ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, in order to take advantage of his back-of-the-grid start position. Verstappen, having been second quickest to team-mate Daniel Ricciardo throughout practice, crashed during the closing stages of the final session. Red Bull attempted to repair his car in time for qualifying but detected an oil leak in the gearbox and was unable to undertake the required fixes. Verstappen thus did not participate in qualifying and will line up at the rear of the 20-car grid.
