Mercedes unleash first real serious aero and chassis upgrades
Hot on the heels of their engine upgrade, Mercedes are openly boasting about the aero based tweaks that their car will feature at the Austrian Grand Prix, as the ‘arms-race' between the Big Three ramps up is likely to be decisive in the title fight. Last time out in France, Mercedes unleashed what they called the ‘Spec-2.1' version of their power unit and Lewis Hamilton duly qualified the Silver Arrows on pole and then went on to win the race on Sunday afternoon. They now arrive in Austria with a raft of upgrades, including a revised side-pod which has been shortened by about a foot (12 centimetres) and the louvres in front of the sidepod tweaked as a result.
