Disdain and sympathy for Vettel after FP1 mistake
Sebastian Vettel received a three-place grid penalty for not slowing down enough under red flag conditions during the first free practice session of the United States Grand Prix, rivals have sympathised with the Ferrari driver's plight while Italian media were expectedly disdainful. Vettel himself believed he got off the gas sufficiently and told reporters at the end of the day, 'I think it's wrong, I think l slowed down. I think there should be common sense with the rules that we have.' Ferrari team chief Maurizio Arrivabene said: 'The penalty was quite tough but the rules are the rules.
