Sainz high on confidence despite back-to-back DNFs

Back-to-back retirements may seem like a nightmare way to start a Formula 1 season, but Carlos Sainz Jr. is running high on confidence after McLaren’s competitive showings in both Australia and Bahrain. Sainz managed just nine laps in Australia before a power unit issue forced him out of the race, and saw his hopes of a top-five finish in Bahrain end early when contact with Max Verstappen dropped him to the back of the order.
