Lewis Hamilton tops closely-contested final practice session in Hungary

World Champion Lewis Hamilton led the way during a closely-contested final practice session for Formula 1’s Hungarian Grand Prix, which took place in dry and warm conditions. Hamilton clocked a time of 1:16.084 in a reduced-time session, with clean-up from an oil spill in the preceding Formula 2 race delaying the session for 10 minutes. As the drivers completed qualifying simulations on Soft tyres during the closing stages of the session Hamilton moved to the front by just 0.013s. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was Hamilton’s nearest opponent, while Sebastian Vettel ensured the top three drivers were covered by less than a tenth of a second. Ferrari set strong pace through the...
