Albon: Q3 drivers were just playing the game
Italian Grand Prix – Red Bull's Alex Albon didn't get to set a time in Q3 as a result of ‘game-playing' by the drivers at the end of the session. Alex Albon qualified in P8 for Sunday's race at Monza, having been unable to set a time in Q3. Having failed to set a time prior to the red flag midway through Q3 to cover Kimi Raikkonen's crash, Albon joined the group of nine remaining cars on track as the final runs began with two minutes to go. However, with all the drivers slowing to allow anyone else to go ahead of them for slipstream purposes, seven of the nine drivers failed to cross the line in time to start a lap and, as a result, Albon didn't get to put in a laptime at all....
