Alonso denies he is wasting time at McLaren
Fernando Alonso insists he does not consider his current time at McLaren as a 'waste', despite admitting it is not clear how long he will have to wait to drive a competitive car. Alonso has remained largely stoic about McLaren's troubles since re-joining the Woking-based team at the start of the 2015 season on a big budget three-year deal. Indeed, with the new Honda power unit still considerably down on performance and reliability compared with its rivals, 34 year-old Alonso insists he remains committed to the job in hand and the team, brushing off concerns about his age. “It's never wasted time,” he said. “Even at Ferrari we didn't have a competitive car, but those five years were...
