Rosberg takes third straight pole in truncated session

Mercedes AMG Petronas Nico Rosberg will start from pole position for the third successive race later on Sunday after topping Q2 at the United States Grand Prix. Rosberg set the quickest time during the second knockout session as conditions worsened at the Circuit of the Americas and race control opted to cancel Q3 after a minor delay. That meant times from Q2 counted for the grid, with Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton leading a front-row lockout for Mercedes. Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat collected third and fourth for Red Bull, while Sebastian Vettel was fifth but will drop to 15th as a result of an engine penalty.
