Vasseur thanks Mercedes for Ocon deal
– Renault's new Racing Director, Frédéric Vasseur, has thanked Mercedes for allowing affiliated driver Esteban Ocon to join the French manufacturer as a reserve pilot.Ocon gained full Mercedes backing after clinching last year's GP3 title, but has been loaned to Renault to provide back-up to regular drivers Jolyon Palmer and Kevin Magnussen.Vasseur expressed his excitement at securing the services of a young French driver, and is grateful to Mercedes – which has been tipped to field Ocon in DTM – for its help."He's probably one of the most successful young drivers over the last few years," Vasseur said of Ocon, who claimed the European F3 title in 2014, in a field...
