Rosberg beats Hamilton in season-opening Australian GP

Nico Rosberg beat Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton in Formula One's season-opening Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, using a better tyre strategy to overhaul Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel following a frightening accident that had suspended the race. The red flags came out after a high-speed collision between McLaren's Fernando Alonso and Esteban Gutierrez of Haas about a third of the way through the race, and when it resumed, the Mercedes cars were able to continue to the finish on the harder tyre, while Vettel was forced to pit to change rubber.
