Rosberg starting from pole on the Soft tyre

Chinese Grand Prix – Nico Rosberg will start Sunday's race from pole position and, in even better news for him, he will start on the Soft tyre while those around him are on the SuperSoft. The tyre rules in 2016 say that drivers start the race on the tyres used to set their best time in Q2. Baring this in mind, Rosberg used the Soft tyre during Q2 and used the Mercedes' inherent pace to get into Q3. He then fitted out with the SuperSoft tyre and put it on pole position on his second run. 'It’s great to have my first pole of the year.' beamed Rosberg afterwards.
