Briatore rules out Mercedes switch for Alonso

Flavio Briatore has ruled out a switch to Mercedes for Fernando Alonso, despite intense speculation linking him with the vacant seat. Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff fuelled talk about the possibility of an Alonso move when he made it clear the two-time F1 champion was being 'considered' as a replacement for Nico Rosberg. But Briatore, who has been a part of Alonso's management team since he came into F1, has insisted that his current contract with McLaren will be respected.
