Pirelli: Lap time objective met

With Valtteri Bottas's pace-setting 1:19.705 two seconds up on last year's Barcelona pole and five seconds faster than the time set in 2015, Pirelli have declared that the 'objective has been met.' This season Formula 1 wanted the cars to be up to five seconds per lap faster than in 2016, and although they aren't there yet, they are closing in on the target. Bottas topped this week's timesheets at the Circuit de Catalunya as he posted a 1:19.705 on the ultrasoft tyres. That put him 2.295s up on his team-mate Lewis Hamilton's 2016 pole position time, and 4.976s faster than Nico Rosberg's P1 time in 2015.
