Honda: Token system exit has aided trajectory

– Honda chief Yusuke Hasegawa says the removal of Formula 1's token system has aided the manufacturer this season, and will continue to do so, as it bids to close the gap to its rivals.Honda has struggled since its return to Formula 1 as McLaren's power unit supplier in 2015, and introduced a brand-new concept for 2017, helped by the scrapping of the token system.Formula 1 implemented a token system when power units debuted in 2014, with each component carrying a weighting over how many tokens it would cost to make changes.However, the move proved unpopular and the token system, which restricted development through each season, was scrapped for 2017.While Honda has endured a...
